Year 2

Welcome to Year 2.

We are a happy year group who enjoy coming to school. Year two is all about consolidating all the skills that we have learnt in year one, ready for our next challenge in year 3. We do our learning through topic based activities such as art, geography and history. You can find out what topic we are doing this half term in the topic letter that is sent out.

Everyday we have a phonics lesson where we are taught our letter sounds and learn how to read fluently by blending and segmenting the words we read so we can use them in our writing. We also have a daily literacy lesson based on writing, reading and other fun activities for the children. We have a daily maths lesson where we learn all the skills we need to know.

Each half term we send out a letter about the different topics we are going to be doing and also how parents can help and support their child's learning at home. The letter can be found in the news and letters section on the website. We encourage parents to come and speak to the staff if they have any concerns about their child.
