Children’s guide to coronavirus

Children's guide banner

There have been big changes in our lives because of coronavirus, so we’ve created a children’s guide to coronavirus to help explain the situation.

The guide aims to answer children’s questions about coronavirus, tell children how to stay safe and protect other people and how to help them make the best of their time at home.

If you think you may be eligible for free school meals, please follow the link below. Decisions are really quick.

There is some confusion around the Universal Free School Meals scheme and the voucher scheme which has developed by the Government to help during the Coronovirus lockdown. If you your child is in Reception, year 1 or year 2, you do not usually pay for school dinners. HOWEVER, the free school meals voucher scheme DOES NOT apply to these children, unless you have completed the free school meals application and have been told you are entitled to this benefit.

Please do try to apply.

Free detective mystery activity for your Y4-Y6 pupils

The Curriculum Innovation Service have launched a themed #techawaychallenge called Sherkey Flatts and the 'Mystery of the Disappearing iPad' for this week. This activity is designed for you to deliver either in school with small groups or for your pupils to complete at home.

Each day the team will publish a video challenge to help our detectives (You!) solve the mystery. This is aimed at year 4 - 6 children at school or at home and is less technology driven but more logical reasoning centred.

To join in with this latest detective mystery click here.

PARENTS PLEASE BEWARE

We have been alerted to a scam that is taking place regrading Free School Meals. At this time ONLY school staff will be contacting you regrading your child's entitlement to FSM. IF this changes we will let you know via text.

SCAM WARNING
Free School Meals Scam SCAM EMAIL – Free School Meals
It appears that a number of scam emails are circulating stating: if your child’s school is closed and your child is entitled to free school meals; then to send your bank details to the school and they will help you with funding while schools are closed. The links are fake and vulnerable families may be giving their bank details online so please ensure any service users you still have contact with are aware. Schools have been giving out vouchers to parents whose children qualify for free school  meals, if you or anyone you have contact with has given their bank details to anyone in regards to this, please report it as soon as possible
